How address lookup handles your information
Street addresses are sensitive. The frontend uses them only for the lookup request and does not persist them.
How is an address used?
The address lookup sends the street and Utah city or ZIP directly to the Rails endpoint over a JSON POST request. The frontend does not put the address in a URL, browser storage, analytics event, console log, or client error report.
The address remains in the form only while you use the page. Navigating away clears that page state.
What may be measured?
Privacy-safe operational signals may include route template, response status, latency, lookup outcome category, and backend request ID. They must not include the submitted address, coordinates, returned place, or provider.
Does the lookup prove service?
No. Geocoding and mapped service areas narrow plausible providers. Confirm with a water bill, property owner, or utility. Ambiguous candidates are shown with equal weight.
